Hello!

I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays!

I think my Guides would like to enter the 'Design a Bag...' Competition so I've been trying to find out about it.

Firstly, the link to the competition on the main 'Throw Away' page doesn't work. Although you can get to it through the Challenges PDF.

Secondly, the rules don't explain how to present your design, do they want just an A4 picture or do they want a whole bag design? And (apart from CTW and WWF obviously) is there any set theme they expect on the bag?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

Hello

Donna from WWF here.

Many thanks for pointing out the link not working, we'll sort this out straight away.

As for how the design is presented, this is your choice or at least the designers choice.

It doesn't even have to have the CTW or WWF logo.

The winner will have their bags made up for their whole  unit so it has to be something the designer would want to carry and use.

Hope this helps

Donna

Hi. Several of my Brownies want to work together on this project. Is this allowed under the competition rules?

Hi
I may be being stupid here but is the design for a picture on the bag or for the whole bag its self?

Every girl in our brownie pack designed a bag for life.  We chose the best 4 and sent them into the design a bag for life competition with a covering letter.  We're keeping our fingers crossed for a winner!  Even if none of our brownies win, it certainly made us think about the use of bags for life and ditching our plastic ones!

Donna From WWF here

What a fantastically positive message, thank you very much for your support.  We're really pleased with the response to the idea of designing a bag and if the girl understood the concept of using less plastic, than that is wonderful.

Happy Thinking Day!

I was really hoping to do the 'design a bag' competition with my Guides - however only having started on our Changing the World project this term I was somewhat dissapointed to discover that the closing date for entries had been & gone!

Was the competition open to more than just Girlguiding? We've all been told that we could complete the projects up to September '09, so I was just wondering why the closing date for this competition was mid-May!

Hi all

Donna here from WWF

I am sorry the Bag for Life competition is now closed as is the Seasonal Recipe competition.

The original dates for Changing the World project we were working to were September 08 to July 09.  Finishing the competition in May will allowing us time to judge, inform the winners and arrange for the winners bags to be made and with the units before the end of term.

Many units have designed actual bags, using the canvas bags from Baker Ross and fabric pens or paints, then sent us the pictures which were fantastic, all have reported how much the girls enjoyed this activity.

I understand the Changing the World project has been a great success and units are still signing up to different projects every day, with this in mind I believe the dates for completion have been extended so as many units as possible can take part.

Many thanks to you and everyone who has supported WWF, we are delighted.
