Having downloaded the pack, it seems like a lot of work for Brownies.  We are having to run a pop up shop because of not being anywhere near a STC shop...

Has anyone attempted this with Brownies as yet?  If so, any tips?

After a powpow with the girls they decieded they wanted to help Save the Children.  I have now downloaded all the information and like you feel that it is a bit of a challenge for the Brownies.

I do hope we have not bitten off more than we can chew!

We are going to do a pop up shop.

Any tips or advice from anyone would be greatfully received.

One of the groups who tested this were Brownies. They said that it was a commitment form the leaders to make it all happen but the girls were motivated by the shop idea and had a great time. They raised alomst 300 on one Sunday.

You could think about linking with anothe local unit to help out or some seinor section members might enjoy the challenge if they have your support. This might make it a little easier.

Also your pop up shop can be any size of scale so you could do something quite small in your meeting place and still make huge difference to children around the world.

I hope that it works out.

Just to let you know we continued with this project and from going for the pop up shop option it turned into a mothers day fundraising fair.  It was an enourmous success and we raised £540 for save the children.  All the brownies (and leaders) worked really hard to make it happen and they enjoyed every minuet of it.  We are all really proud of our achievement and have learnt what a difference this money will make to children around the world.  So if you are thinking of doing this project with Brownies it can be done and be great fun in the process. Good luck everyone. Jo

What a great result! I am so pleased that you persisted with the project £540 is a tramendous amount!

I really like your photos on your newsletter. If you have the appropriate permission for these to be used in Girlguiding UK publucations, websites and publicity (this is all covered on the Starting Brownies Forms) I would love to recieve them. Please email them to changingtheworld@girlguiding.org.uk stating that you have permission for all of the girls in the photo.

Please pass on my congratualtions to the Brownies and other leaders.
